Launched in 2015, the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) is Salem State’s hub for civic learning, public engagement, and community partnerships. Through service projects, advocacy, and leadership opportunities, the CCE prepares students to address pressing social, political, economic, and environmental issues while developing the skills to lead with purpose.
As the Commonwealth’s Civic Engagement University, the CCE strengthens student belonging, builds social capital, expands networks, and prepares graduates to thrive in today’s competitive job market. Civic engagement not only enriches learning but also supports wellbeing and provides students a sense of purpose during challenging times.
Donor support sustains this work by helping Salem State students discover their passions, strengthen their advocacy skills and talents, lead positive change on campus and in the community, and carry forward a lifelong commitment to the public good.
Funding will support civic education and leadership at SSU through experiential learning that connects students with community partners, deepens their understanding of current issues, and strengthens their identity and advocacy skills while engaging in our democracy.
