SPOTLIGHT: Celebrating Our Newest Viking Alumni! |
 |
While COVID-19 has changed the way we’re celebrating the Class of 2020 this year, we’re still just as proud to welcome more than 2,000 graduates from 32 countries and 23 states as the newest members of the Alumni Association! This past weekend, the community came together for a virtual conferring of degrees and a student-organized commencement parade around campus.
Join in the celebration by sending your advice and well wishes to the Class of 2020 on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn pages today using #SalemState20.

Our Viking Warriors: Melissa Moore ‘17G |
We are proud of our Viking Warriors who are making a difference during the COVID-19 pandemic! As a social worker at Element Care PACE, Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, Melissa Moore ‘17G helps care for nursing home eligible elders in the community, keeping them in their homes and helping them maintain independence. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has had to adjust her work from seeing her participants on a sometimes daily basis, to building verbal relationships without the benefit of being face-to-face. “My professional life does not feel the same without those in-person relationships,” Melissa says. “It’s wonderful to have the phone connections, but you can't see a smile, touch a hand, look into someone's eyes. I miss these things tremendously.”

Viking Warrior Day Success! |
 |
What started out as 1,854 minutes of making a difference, turned into two and a half days of celebrating Viking pride and supporting our students. Together on April 28, 29 and 30, we raised nearly $200,000 to support Salem State students.
We couldn't have done it without you. Thank you for helping us make this our most successful Viking Warrior Day yet!
