SPOTLIGHT: Let's Lift Each Other Up!
Vikings Lifting Vikings

John F. Kennedy once said, "The rising tide lifts all the boats." As we all deal with the effects of COVID-19, it's time for Vikings to lift other Vikings up and offer support!

Join us in helping our alumni-owned businesses as we adjust to the new normal of social distancing. Every Saturday, we are highlighting alumni businesses that need our support, like Jaho Coffee & Tea in Salem, owned by Anil Menzini '12.

If you own a business that offers goods or services that individuals can take advantage of during this time, and you would like us to promote your business to fellow graduates, please fill out our online form.

In addition, please consider supporting the Student Emergency Fund, which will help our students adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Together we can support Vikings, near and far, and lift each other up!

Nate Bryant, EdD, '87, '93G

Chief of Staff Nate Bryant, EdD, '87, '93G selected as Interim President of North Shore Community College!

On April 14, the North Shore Community College Board of Trustees voted to name Nate Bryant, EdD, '87, '93G as interim president of NSCC from July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021. The appointment now goes to Massachusetts Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Carlos E. Santiago for approval.

Nate currently serves as vice president and chief of staff to President John Keenan. He was the 2017 recipient of our Dr. Marilyn E. Flaherty Award and played a crucial role in our 10,000 Reasons Campaign, overseeing campus community fundraising with Professor Amy Everitt. Together, they achieved an astounding 94 percent participation level among full-time faculty and staff.

Salem State works closely with North Shore Community College to provide affordable educational opportunities to students throughout the region. We take pride in knowing all that Nate will continue to achieve for the region in this interim role. Please join us in congratulating Nate. No matter where he is, he will always remain a valued and committed member of our Viking community!

University COVID-19 Response and Alumni Weekend 2020 Update

The university is working diligently to stay on top of developments and respond quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic. To stay on top of the latest updates and news, please visit our coronavirus preparedness page on our website.

We has also made the difficult decision to cancel Alumni Weekend this year. While the weekend itself will not take place as scheduled May 28-31, reunions may be postponed to a later date, and some of the weekend’s events will take place virtually.

Everyone who has registered for Alumni Weekend will receive a full refund or may donate the cost of their registration to the Student Emergency Fund, the Salem State Foundation or any other fund. Please visit our Alumni Weekend website to learn more.
